I just read Lincoln's Gettysburg address again. It dawned on me what he said applied to us. It applies to all our turmoil and war. Why do we war? Why, why why? Look at the last part of the last sentence from Lincoln and reflect about the alternatives: "---that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." Whatever our faults, we led the way in 1776 and we still lead. Not such a bad idea.
